Summary Position Description: Provide a safe and nurturing environment for children to learn and grow, ensuring a Christ-centered environment for students. Teachers of St. Paul Preschool report directly to the Preschool Director, the director reports to SPRC and the Preschool Board.
Duties Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Educational:
? Create and implement age-appropriate lesson plans and activities for preschool children.
? Provide a safe and nurturing environment for children to learn and grow.
? Observe/monitor/assess/record each child?s development/behavior for reporting and progress monitoring.
? Provide a developmentally appropriate classroom ? organized, safe and inclusive of learning centers.
? Maintain supplies, equipment, and materials as appropriate; provide order information to Director.
? Provide support, direction, supervision and assistance to the assistant(s).
? Respond appropriately to emergency or crisis situations.
? Maintain appropriate records with the support of the assistant(s).
? Teach basic academic skills such as math, language and science.
? Incorporate physical education and movement activities into daily routines.
? Foster social and emotional development through positive interactions and guidance.
? Monitor and assess each child?s progress and provide individualized support when needed.
? Collaborate with parents to ensure open communication and involvement in their child?s education.
? Maintain a clean and organized classroom environment.
? Maintain and participate in established department and state policies, procedures, programs, and objectives, concerning quality assurance, safety, security, environmental
conditions, and infection control.
? Participate in staff development training programs, as needed.
Church Connectional Duties
? Attend meetings of the Church staff and Preschool Board as requested.
? Support the evangelism strategy of the church by actively inviting families to attend worship and participate in the ministry of St. Paul CUMC.
Other Duties
? Responsible for parent contact, questions, and concerns.
? Regularly greet and interact with parents and children during drop-off and pick-up.
? Perform other goals and duties as assigned.
Requirements Qualifications:
? Previous experience in childcare, a preschool environment, or equivalent.
? Completion of the necessary annual training courses with State of Ohio regulations for preschool teacher certification.
? Demonstrate knowledge of child development, developmentally appropriate curriculum, lesson plan development, classroom implementation skills, behavior management skills, plus observation and assessment skills.
? Effective organizational skills, communication, and interpersonal skills.
? Patience, creativity, and a passion for working with young children.
? Ability to understand and follow data privacy rules and regulations related to students.
? Ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
? Ability to assess and provide follow-up on a child?s development, as needed.
? Ability to establish and maintain good interpersonal relationships with parents, children, preschool and church staff.
? Ability and skills to provide direction to assistants, substitutes, and volunteers.
? Ability to perform routine computer functions, including the use of email, Google apps, internet navigation, and Microsoft Office.
? CPR and standard first aid certified; lay responder minimum.
? Understanding of child welfare policies and procedures.
